Prayer for the USA |

In May this prayer was first included in the mailing for the Missionaries of the Liturgy along with a prayer plan encouraging people to find other to pray the prayer for our country each day. Those who wish to do even more can pick one day of the week on which to offer extra prayers such as the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Chaplet of the Holy Spirit or attending daily Mass. Adding an extra penance on the day of prayer will bring forth even more fruit as we pray for our country in the midst of great troubles as we approach the election.

Prayer For Our Country
(Prayer this prayer each day and try to find ten others who will pray the prayer, too. )
Gracious Father, source of truth and grace, grant to our country your divine aid. In this land of blessings you have drawn men and women of many nations and gathered us together under one flag. You guided our first leaders to establish a nation based on truth and justice. Through many years, O Lord, we held You in esteem, we implored Your help and guidance, we upheld the laws which you have planted in our hearts and revealed to us through your Word.
We recognize, O Lord, that we have strayed from the way You have pointed out to us. Have mercy on us, O Lord, and lead us back. Help this people know again Your truth and follow in Your way. Be our life, that we may be Your light in our world.
V. Come, Holy Spirit,
R. instill peace where there is division.
V. Come, Holy Spirit,
R. lead us to truth where there is error.
V. Come, Holy Spirit,
R. shed Your light where there is darkness.
V. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful,
R. And enkindle in them the fire of Your love.
V. Sacred Heart of Jesus,
R. Establish Your Kingdom within us and among us
V. Immaculate Mary, patroness of our country,
R. Preserve our land and lead us in the ways of your Son.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
